Story:

I think as black people in America due to both the covert and open discrimination and oppression of people of color, we tend to place value on our origin. As a west African born immigrant myself, I have a dual perspective on the matter.

I would hear a lot from people raised here in the states saying they are or were descendants of kings and queens in order to show how beautiful, worthy, or strong they really are steaming from ancestors being forced to forget their native tongues and cultures among other things. The truth of the matter is, most people probably were not truly royal descendants. It is possible black ancestors were already slaves, servants or "commoners" before their greedy fellow man made agreements with greedy gross white folk from the western world. But at the same time its also very possible ancestry traces back to have some royal blood as well.

To me after reading and learning the excellence of black people in general and the rich history despite the odds being against them, what they have over come, the value lies in the strength of the people, not alleged royalty.

So regardless of the class of your black ancestors, what makes us kings and queens is we have authority over our density despite the odds.

Black Excellence is alive and well.

It all begins in the mind.
